Beachfront horseback riding should always be met with a resounding ‘yes!’

Beachfront horseback riding should always be met with a resounding ‘yes!’

This is Diamante and Winnie Pooh (no ‘the,’ he’s an original). They are friends we made while exploring Stone Island, though maybe they’d say acquaintances on the way to being friends, one can’t really be sure. We didn’t talk much, but D&W took us on a breathtaking ride along the ocean that will be lodged in our hippocampi for decades to come, and for that we are forever indebted.

Now let me be clear: the ride is short (less than 10 minutes) and these horses make it clear who’s boss (hint: not you). They barely respond to commands, they trot at the speed they please, and they’re wont to turn around and rejoin their horse gang at random. That said, do it anyway.

Because there are things in life you just never say no to, and beachside horseback riding is one of them.
